What to do when the door is crooked.

Practical next steps from Garage Door Minneapolis.

Stop operating an uneven door

A tilted section, a roller outside a track or a loose lifting cable can leave the door unstable. Keep people, vehicles and pets away from the opening. Do not keep pressing the opener in the hope that the door will straighten itself.

Leave the lifting hardware in place

Do not loosen cable attachments, bottom brackets or spring fittings. An uneven door can involve stored tension and an unexpectedly heavy load. Pulling, prying or attempting to put it back on a track without an assessment can worsen the problem.

Describe the event that preceded it

Tell us whether a vehicle or object contacted the door, a cable came loose, a spring appears separated or the problem developed during ordinary operation. If the door is partly open, explain the position. Take photos only from a safe place outside the path of the door.

Arrange the right repair conversation

Track displacement, cable issues and damaged sections may require different work. Have the service city or ZIP code and any safely readable label ready. Garage Door Minneapolis can discuss off-track repair and related components; scheduling and the scope are confirmed for the individual opening.

Read the equipment guidance

Use the instructions for your exact equipment. The Chamberlain Group manuals and parts library and Clopay care and maintenance manuals provide manufacturer context. These links are reference material, not a claim of a dealer relationship.
