Describe the sound and when it occurs
A rattle, squeak, bang or grinding sound can come from different parts. Notice whether it happens at the start, at a particular point in travel or throughout operation. A recording made from a safe position can help explain the symptom; do not stand under the moving door to capture it.
Door hardware and opener noise are different
Rollers, hinges, tracks and the lifting system all influence door movement. The operator and its mounting can contribute separate sounds. Changing an opener drive will not necessarily fix worn door hardware, so explain whether the door also shakes, catches or travels unevenly.
Use the equipment care instructions
Products and lubrication instructions differ. Follow the care manual for the actual door and operator rather than spraying an unidentified product onto every surface. Do not loosen spring, cable or bottom-bracket fittings while trying to silence a noise.
Know when noise calls for a service assessment
A sudden bang, loose cable, visible damage or crooked movement is a reason to stop operating the door. For a gradual increase in noise, call with the model information and the part of travel where it happens. We provide roller replacement, maintenance and related repairs.
Read the equipment guidance
