Distinguish a frozen threshold from another fault
A seal adhering to the floor can resemble other opening problems. Notice where the door appears stuck, whether a spring is visibly separated and whether the door is uneven. Weather alone does not prove the cause, so describe the condition before choosing a repair.
Avoid forcing the opener
Do not repeatedly run the motor against a door that is held at the threshold. Keep the opening clear and avoid pulling on an unstable door. Use the manufacturer guidance for the actual equipment and seek service if the cause or safe next step is unclear.
Discuss the seal and the conditions around it
A damaged bottom seal, water at the opening and a floor or drainage issue can require different work. Explain where moisture collects and whether the condition repeats. Replacing a seal does not necessarily resolve the underlying source of water.
Plan the service conversation
Have the door model and safely taken photos ready. Mention any tear in the seal, change in closing behavior or recurring gap. We can discuss weather-seal service, suitable replacement parts and an operating assessment without assuming that every cold-weather problem is the same.
Read the equipment guidance
Use the instructions for your exact equipment. The Chamberlain Group manuals and parts library and Clopay care and maintenance manuals provide manufacturer context. These links are reference material, not a claim of a dealer relationship.
